It's been 2 WEEKS since I updated and it seems like I just posted yesterday! (sorry guys) Anyway, here is an update. I may get fired for not having a lesson planned for tomorrow...but by golly I have a blog post!
My first week went really well. (and the 2nd too) It has been crazy and stressful but I really don't have anything to complain about. Besides the fact that I have real job...everything has been great. Brief overview: We have four 90 min. blocks each day. All the blocks are split between 2 classes except mine (math). So basically, I only have 3 classes a day for 90 min. each and I have them all year long, every day. It freaked me out at first, but it flies by! And it gives me time to do more hands-on activities with their lessons! And I only have about 70 students to worry about. So it is wonderful. My planning period is 1st block so I don't have students until 9:25. Also, the school is divided into 6 houses. Each house has 2 teams. The houses are basically like mini-schools with our own assistant principal & social worker. So I know absolutely NOBODY in the entire school except my house of 12 teachers. I love it because it makes the HUGE school much smaller. My assistant principal is great. I haven't even met the principal. And my students mostly have small problems (like keeping their mouths shut & complaining). No major behavior or attitude problems. SOOOO I don't think my first year is going to be too bad as far as interacting with others. Me feeling knowledgable and having a clue about how to teach math is a different story. But I'm slowly working on it.
Kyle has been doing good. We haven't been able to hang out much. I'm ready to get caught up so I don't have to work so many hours! (and I can update more often) He is enjoying the youth stuff and this Sunday he is speaking with Bob on relating to teens. PLUS....his parents are coming to see us!! WOOHOO!
And last week...my parents were here to see us!! We had a wonderful time. It was good to see familiar faces. We took them to St. Louis to see some of the major sites and of course to eat at all the good places. Below are a couple of pics from riding in a horse & carriage.

It was good to get an update. We were wondering about your beginnings but had not tried to call because I knew you were busy. Also, knew you were enjoying your folks last weekend. Sounds like things are going okay & they will get a little more relaxed as you go along. Just think---your first check will be real exciting. Then you can be like Brooke and say it had a comma in it. It was soooo good to get an update. I'm so glad for you that things are going good. That first year is full of lots of emotions and it sounds like you are handling them very well. I don't know how you even had time to post a blog, I've been totally exhausted every night and bring stuff home to work on and I'm just teaching kindergarten. I'll have to send you an email about my class this year. :(
We love you guys and are greatful that God is providing for you so much and that you are being able to see your parents. I know they were ready to see you.

Nice shirt...gotta love the free stuff :) I didn't even know Daddy wore his hat that I bought him, I am actually impressed. I am jealous yall got to do so much in St. Louis. It's good to get an update. I feel like I never talk to you, but between our two schedules it is hard. I love you....and you too Kyle! Come visit me sometime :)
Hmmmmm... "litle problems like not keeping mouth shut and complaining" can you say "Reap what you sow?" --- Ha! Glad to hear things are going so well. Hope you and Kyle get to hang out together a little more. The Irby's still want the tour of St. Louis.
