Crazy Church!!

woohoo!!! I am finally updating!!! We are doing good....just staying extremely busy!! Anyone with time efficient tips on school teaching should definitely leave me detailed messages!!! :)

Well...the church had an exciting weekend last weekend. We kicked off...literally...our debut in Kickball. It was sad....very sad. Let's just say the suggestion was made to change our name from LifePoint to OnePoint. They should have awarded points for the # of fans....we would've kicked everyones butt. Basically...we just had more people there to witness the pain. A team pic is posted below...as well as our fan pics. haha They were great!!

We are in a series at church called, "Everything you need to know about life can be found in your fishbowl" (or something like that) Bob has been talking about the different fish we find in our bowl. This week one of the them was the shark....so Bob decided it would be fun to sing the baby shark song during his message. Most of the things we do at church have a purpose...but this didn't. We just did it for fun. And I got pressured into it. Usually I am strong and don't give in. But I cratered. Just another reason why I have to cut out school work and spend more time with God. I can't be giving into pressure like this. SOOO....as you can see below...we really did it...and I really got on stage to help out. BUT....the best part was that we had an accordian player!!!! It was awesome!!

Other than that....nothing much has been going on. Kyle and I are beginning to look at houses!! Hopefully that will lead to something good. I'll try to update soon!!

The Joy of Teaching in our Society Today

Look at me writing twice in one week!!

So...I told you about the HS having two bomb threats. Well yesterday at lunch one of the teachers asked why all the administrators were here this morning. Another teacher replied with, "well there was sort of a bomb threat here...but it was nothing." I'm not sure what a "sort of" bomb threat is but I sort of just blew it off and assumed we were ok or they would have evacuated.

This morning I get to my classroom and we get a classroom set of newspapers MWF, so I had my stack outside the door. I noticed the front page headline said "Two accused of bomb threat" so I thought I'd check it out and see who they caught from the HS. This is what the article says:

"A bomb threat phoned into Alton Middle School on Tuesday morning was investigated and eventually discounted, police said. Though staff members searched all the bathrooms at the school at 2200 College Avenue, no such bomb was found. School began without incident."

HELLO!!! How did I only hear this was "sort of" a bomb threat?? Our school has 3 separate buildings...and it was called into our building to the office just above us. Oh well...I guess less for me to worry about. I'm still alive.

Anyway...apparently it was "a young male voice"...unfortunately he forgot that the school has caller ID or phone calls can be easily traced. I believe they have narrowed it down. It says they counted it as a hoax. (I guess because of what has been going on at the HS...they figure they needed a day off too) The 2 girls caught at the HS said their motive was just that..."get a day off of school." I'm sure they will have many now.

2 Week Update

It appears that a two-week update may be the trend for awhile. I am starting to get a little caught up in school work...maybe by next weekend I will be there. We shall see.

Not much exciting has been going on for me at school. Everything is still going good...kids wear me out a little, but again, I don't have much to complain about. I learn something new everyday. Most of the time it is the hard way...or a little late for the situation. The whole management thing (time, kids, etc.) is usually the origin of my daily lessons. Today I took on an extra duty...student council. It should be interesting and I think it will be fun once I get caught up with myself. My assistant principle asked me to do it because they needed someone from each house to sponser. I'm just hoping I don't have to do tooooooo much extra stuff. I know how it is in small towns...and my mom is going to tell me I'm crazy! I'm hoping a stipend might be involved. I was supposed to get paid today...a half check anyway. But it hasn't gone through...all that excitement for nothing. Maybe tomorrow. Other news: Our HS has had a bomb threat two school days in a row. Last Friday and today. Craziness. Hopefully our JH kids don't think it is "cool" and begin to do such a thing.

On to Kyle and the youth. Things are great. I told you two weeks ago that he and Bob were speaking. They did a great job and it has been awesome to see the response! Basically at the end they told people they could help with time, treasures, and talents. God has done some awesome things and it's exciting seeing other people want to help out and be so pumped up for the youth. Basically, the church has been wonderful to us! And Kyle is doing a great job!

And finally...Kyle's parents did visit us that same weekend they spoke. It was great to get to see them! Having family two weekends in a row was a very special treat!!! Kyle also left and went to Texas to watch Kevin play football. He got to eat Leal's, see everyone in Plainview, AND watch football. I'm not jealous. Or bitter.
